April 29 ... National Zipper Day

Well, I certainly still have quite the stash of zippers
from back in my sewing days ... was noticing the prices on the tags,
everything from 30 cents almost $5 ... obviously collected over a span of time

Mallards definitely look less graceful in their
take offs than the wood ducks do

Was not happy seeing a pair of woodpeckers hanging
around and climbing in and out of nesting boxes

Three for the price of one

April 28

Mama Wood Duck heading into the nest

Can hear them so close to the blind and search and search
for these guys and all of a sudden, see those beady little eyes 

Can't get enough of these beauties

And he's off 

April 27

Found a mama wood duck up in our box again,
and then this pair swam around a bit.
I think duck season is arriving at the pond.

Wow!  This was so exciting for me!  Was relaxing in the duck blind
this morning for awhile, reading, listening and waiting when ...
heard scratching on wood, and when I peeked out, captured this!
I'm so curious to go check if there are actually eggs in there now!

Upon closer inspection, obvious

evidence on outside of the box 

as to visitors coming and going.

And the frogs started croaking and singing in full force today ...

not surprised I had a hard time spotting them when they pull tricks like this.

But our theory always is that spring has officially arrived when we hear their chorus.

Yeah!  Finally!  Found a female wood duck in our pond,
only to have the neighbor's dog come and chase it away! :( :(

Sure wish I knew my birds better ...
maybe a flycatcher??

when I don't chase out the goose

Beautiful day to get some yardwork done

April 21 ... British National Tea Day

This was my afternoon 'tea' ...
I do drink tea, very occasionally, but mostly
when I'm not well.  Some of the pieces in a photo like this ...
the mug is a birthday gift last year from my sister,
the tea towel received from Conrad's nanny in part of a set.
the wood underneath the props came from the discard pile
from the housebarn torn down in Neu-bergthal
where my grandma grew up in.

A mantra that I'm trying hard
to imprint on my brain and in
my heart, particularly these past days

April 20 ... Macro Monday

Another batch of bananas that went brown
so fast that we couldn't eat them fast enough ...
into a cake for you guys!

I don't exactly consider this a fail in my bread baking,
but I feel like I should be getting better at this and
instead this seems to be happening more often. Hmmm ...

April 19 ... Just Hangin'' Out Day

Whew!  I always feel like I've really accomplished a huge task
when I've not only taken a photo before 9 in the morning,
but actually sat down and posted it on the same day!
Sometimes it feels like the more time I have, the less I'm getting done these days!
And certainly not helping that our internet just keeps getting worse and worse
and bogs down to the point that I can't upload a single small file photo onto my blog!
First world problems!  We are safe, warm and healthy!  It's all good!

I decided to try to help out Mother Nature
