The boys took in a round of golf at Larimore ... 

We ran into some of our former

neighbor girls. Melissa with her daughter

and sister Allison, posed for a picture

after a nice visit.

We were being pro-active here.  The lightning began
while sitting around the fire, so Brian & Carmelle moved
under a little more protection, and Troy moved into
the camper. And a good thing they all did. We had
some wild weather for several hours overnight.

July 30

                Headed out to Turtle River for a couple of days with half of our family. Troy, setting

up the little tent, and Brian & Carmelle the bigger one. When that was done and supper was

finished, we all headed out for a bike ride.

Great way to start the day ... coffee and a good book!

Conrad was enjoying some reading time at the water's edge this morning.

Was too slow to get this picture the way I would have
liked, but spotted this guy cycling his way out of city
towards Hwy 75, and at a pretty good clip!

Caught this quite by accident. I'd read about something
called 'water drop photography', where you actually try
to get a picture of something behind a large hanging droplet.
I was actually just trying to get a macro picture of a
raindrop hanging from this lily, and if you look
carefully, you can see some coneflowers through the raindrop.




If I remember right, this is some type of perennial ornamental onion?
Denise dug it out for me last year, and I had totally forgotten about it.

                  I was a little surprised to see that I'm on DAY 200!!

                   If nothing else, this is re-enforcing for me

                just how time flies. Most days I feel like

                                                                  I just barely started this project.

     I was quite surprised by what

there was to be seen along the

old tracks, if I was actually strolling

with my camera ready, instead of running or biking!  Guess that's where

the expression to 'Stop and smell the roses' comes from?

So ... this comes with a story.  Grace races onto the driveway
this am, comes to the door and says, "Come on ... we're going to chase a storm!"
And off we drove, east of Sommerfeld, down a dirt road, trying to catch
some lightning strikes in our viewfinders.
