Finally!  Not the greatest shot, but did finally manage to
capture this guy in flight too, not just impatiently eyeing me
from the pole and waiting for me to move on.

Was happy to have an invite to join Shannon
for our hike along the Red today.  

And when we found this deer stand,
of course we had to try it out!  :)

Managed to get the the pond for a
little sledding and take advantage of the still mild temps :)

A sweet gal from Jr High offered to take a few photos
while I was up on the hill with both the girls :)

Oh Hazel!  She just wants to do everything

January 23 ... National Handwriting Day / Red

This is something I actually quite enjoy practising ...
guess I learned this from my mom.  Have lots of memories
of seeing her, in later years, with pen and paper at the table
and writing out names and phrases etc.  She had beautiful handwriting.

Took a short drive in the fog this morning.
It was a little nerve wracking, the way it rolled in and out,
one minute clear, and next in a total white out.

Ben joined Moose and I on our walk this am,
for a very short walk to drop him off at school :) :)

Took Moose out to the Red with me while
I tried out my new snowshoes ... that dog had so much fun!
We only last just over 2 miles before we got totally tuckered out!

I was more or less told by Zoe that our photo sessions
would probably look different from now on.  Conrad found
my first digital camera, so got it charged and loaded and ready for
the kids to practice some photography :)

Finally!  Beautiful blue skies and a Snowy!
They've been making themselves very scarce in the past couple of weeks.

This is why I do it!  Why I have my camera out and available
at all times (in order to grab and capture scenes like this), and why
I print many, many of my pics!  Love when people pass through this hall area, and
stop to check out what I've hung there. And now, Hazel, at just over 1 year old,
 already stops to gaze at the photo collage, and with her starting to babble,
 just makes me smile, trying to imagine what she's thinking and telling us when she's looking
at all these photos, of herself, family, etc.  Love, love the connections
it must be making in her mind. :) :)

So, went for a very long drive this afternoon hunting
for snowy owls ... and I captured scenes like this instead ...

And if you can believe it, not cold enough.  I was getting
hot water droplets landing on me.  Apparently, if it's cold enough,
that all freezes before it comes down.

January 7, 2020 ... Let Year 10 Begin!! Self portrait

Each month the prompts I try to follow puts us in front of the camera.
Can't say it's gotten any easier or more pleasant over the years that I've done this ...
this happens to be the most tolerable one for me out of about 50 shots I attempted. :(
It's also a fairly significant day for my photography ... I began this project
on this day in 2011!  Never did I imagine I'd still be at it, and possibly
loving photography more now than when it began!

And ... modeling some of my Christmas gifts ...
Conrad gave me a new fishing rod that is guaranteed to
catch me fish every time :) :), and also a sweet
pedestal boat seat, since I have a hard time staying sitting
down low in our boat to fish!  Can hardly wait!

Tried to do a little back care using the ice ledges on the trail today

This place!  It's hard to explain what it does for me ...
deciding to get a hike in despite finding no one to join me
was the best idea! So peaceful and beautiful!

Was so happy to see the clouds break up
and see some beautiful blue sky and sun again!

Even after Conrad filled up the feeders again, no luck!
Guess everyone was hunkered down and staying out of the wind!
